CPC08 Plumbing & Services

Continuous Improvement Project

Introduction

Environmental sustainability is a major industry focus in Australia and internationally. While it is vital that managers and supervisors have good knowledge of the latest environmental issues and related work practices, all workers also need to be fully aware of the issues and apply appropriate skills and knowledge to protect the environment and dispose of waste in appropriate ways. This includes full understanding and compliance with relevant legislation and industry codes of practice.

Ensuring that the competencies in the Plumbing and Services qualifications explicitly cover environmentally sustainable topics and address practical outcomes that apply in all workplaces is therefore imperative.

With the assistance of the National Plumbing and Services Training Advisory Group (NPSTAG) all Plumbing and Services units of competency will be looked at to ensure that sustainability principal are covered off.

Whilst completing this work, NPSTAG, has undertaken to advise CPSISC of any other minor updating of unit content recommended for consideration under the CPSISC Continuous Improvement Process.

The Project Process

The Continuous Improvement of the Plumbing and Services qualifications and units of competency is an ongoing project addressing industry needs including changes in technology and work practices.

National stakeholder consultation on all proposed enhancements to the Plumbing and Services units of competency and qualifications is overseen by the CPSISC National Plumbing and Services Continuous Improvement Reference Group – NPSCIRG  (see membership below).

·         NPSCIRG in the first instance, will consider all proposed Continuous Improvement changes.

·         National stakeholder consultation will occur.

·         All stakeholder feedback is reviewed by NPSCIRG

·         Final NPSCIRG recommendations re proposed CPC08 changes is then referred to the  CPSISC Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CIAC) for consideration and action.
