Redevelopment of Access Consulting sector
Current Status
The redevelopment of the access consulting sector has been completed. The redeveloped Access Consulting sector will be included as an extension to CPP07 Property Services Training Package. The submission for endorsement has been lodged with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
The initial sectors covered in the CPP07 Property Services Training Package (property development sales and management and spatial information services) have been endorsed. The security sector is being included as an extension to CPP07. This sector has been endorsed by the National Quality Council and is currently with the State and Territory Ministers for Vocational Education and Training for signoff.
The Access Consulting sector was initially endorsed in 2005. This review was an opportunity to address any issues that have emerged since that time. In response to the High Level Review of Training Packages, the (then) Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training requires that all Training Packages under review use an updated unit template for all units of competency, rationalise any unnecessary duplication of units of competency within and between Training Packages and ensure the inclusion of employability skills.
Some of the changes to the original Access Consulting competency standards include:
-
unit PRDAC501A Access documentation of building work for access and conduct inspections during the building process split into two new units (CPPACC5001A Access documentation of building work for access compliance and CPPACC5002A Inspect access compliance during the building process) to accurately represent the functions in the workplace
-
a new unit CPPACC5019A Coordinate the development of Disability Discrimination Act Action Plans added to address a workplace function
-
several unit titles modified to reflect intent more accurately
-
a number of industry-specific access consulting units replaced with suitable cross-industry generic units
-
range statements revised, and in some cases upgraded, to ensure that they reflected accurately the scope of work performed in each unit, particularly those related to the design function or the provision of higher-level access advice
-
Employability Skills embedded (and removed key competencies) into all access consulting units
-
units of competency and qualifications updated to meet compliance requirements for the National Training Information Service (NTIS) Training Package templates
-
packaging rules modified by altering some core and elective units
-
packaging rules modified to include audit functions in both qualifications
-
three access auditing skill sets developed.
