Productivity Places Program 2011-2012 (PPP)

The Productivity Places Program (PPP) supports employment in NSW by funding additional full qualifications for existing workers and job seekers in priority skills areas. The Program is part of a national agreement between the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments and will run until June 2012.

PPP funding for the period 2011-2012 is limited and each proposed course is subject to negotiation. Approved courses are to be purchased under Strategic Skills Program (SSP) procedures.

PPP funds full qualifications in courses

The principal purpose of the program is to reduce skill shortages in priority industries and qualifications.

The target client groups for PPP is the same as the SSP, i.e.

Energy Efficiency Training Program (EETP)

Applications are invited from educators and industry specialists to develop and trial professional development programs to enhance the skills of VET practitioners to manage and deliver vocational education and training in the area of energy efficiency.

The Department of Education and Communities (DEC) and the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) jointly manage the EETP, which consists of a suite of related initiatives including the delivery of training in energy efficiency skills in the NSW workforce, the development of new courses, and enhancing the capacity of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver energy efficiency training.

VET practitioners (teachers, trainers, assessors and managers) who have in-depth understanding of energy efficiency principles and practices are vital in supporting industry and learners to work towards a sustainable future, particularly in:

This aspect of the program focuses on building the capacity of VET practitioners to deliver energy efficiency training through the development, trialling and, in the second stage, delivery of professional development programs and training and learning resources.

NSW Skills Priority List Survey

Thank you to NSW stakeholders who participated in the 2013/2014 NSW Skills Priority List online survey linked to the 2013/2014 NSW Training Market Tender. An important role of the NSW ITAB Project is to collect information for NSW DEC from an industry perspective that assists the decision making of funded training priorities for our sectors.

The Skills Priority List is a guide the Department uses when determining the Funded Training to be purchased.

NSW DEC is not restricted to purchasing Funded Training from the Skills Priority List. For example, the Department may purchase qualifications that are not on the Skills Priority List in instances where there is evidence of emerging needs for those qualifications.

The information included within the Skills Priority List will be a guide for Registered Training Organisations seeking approval to deliver funded training under the terms of the 2013-2014 APL (Approved Provider List) Contract.

Any further information on the Skills Priority List will be published on our NSW ITAB Project web page.
