Heritage Trade Training Scoping Project
The Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC), through its continuous improvement process, is undertaking a scoping review of heritage trade work and the adequacy of what is currently available within the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package.
CPSISC has been approached to undertake a joint research project with the Heritage Chairs and Officials of Australia & New Zealand (HCOANZ). The findings of this research project will assist the HOCANZ in the development of a national Heritage Training Policy. The findings will also assist CPSISC in determining whether the existing CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package adequately covers the skills and training needs of tradespeople working in the heritage sector.
The scoping report will provide advice on:
- the demand side of heritage trades – reporting on the volume of the heritage sector and the potential size of the training market.
- the adequacy of what is currently available within the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package for a range of trades (including – carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, stonemasonry) that are involved in heritage work.
- whether additional skill development, to existing trade training is required by tradespeople working in the heritage sector.
Ms Georgie Cane, Performance Growth has been awarded a contract to conduct this scoping and provide advice to the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CIAC).
