Background

The aim of the project is to review the following industry Training Packages:

  1. BCP03 Plumbing & Services Training Package originally endorsed in October 2003

    • The Plumbing and Services Package covers Drainage, Metal Roofing and Cladding, Urban Irrigation, Plumbing, Plumbing (Mechanical Services), Roof Plumbing, Gas Fitting and Fire Protection. Still in the process of being fully implemented nationally due to harmonisation of national licensing requirements and the need to ensure a suite of resources was made available to support training delivery.

  2. BCF00 Off-Site Construction Training Package originally endorsed in July 2000

    • The Off-site Construction Training Package had a first phase review evaluation completed in late 2005 and a series of recommendations were made that should underpin this wider review process. The coverage includes Shopfitting, Joinery-Timber/Aluminium/Glass, Stairs, Pre-Fabrication and Machining, Stonemasonry (monumental/installation), Sign Writing/Computer Operations, Sign Manufacture and Neon Manufacture.

  3. BCG03 General Construction Training Package endorsed in November 2003 after review of the previous Package originally completed in 1998

    • General Construction covers Bricklaying/Blocklaying, Building Surveying, Carpentry, Concreting, Demolition, Dogging, Painting and Decorating, Rigging, Roof Tiling, Scaffolding, Solid Plastering, Steelfixing, Wall and Ceiling Lining, Wall and Floor Tiling and Waterproofing. Higher level qualifications have just been endorsed and several new qualifications shave been developed under a COAG initiative and these will be included in the review (see New Qualifications Project on this site for more details)

An Integrated Framework approach covering the three Construction Training Packages has been agreed by the Review Steering Group to reduce overlap and improve useability. The review will ensure the new Framework meets requirements for national Training Package quality and enable the building and construction industry to better achieve a skilled workforce.
