What is the National Training Framework?
The National Training Framework (NTF) is made up of the nationally agreed quality arrangements for the VET sector, the AQTF, and training packages endorsed by the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC).
The NTF underpins Australia's nationally recognised, competency-based training system. It ensures the quality of VET in Australia. The aim of the framework is to ensure:
- that employers who operate in more than one state or territory are able to put into place common training arrangements across the organisation
- the skills and qualifictions gained are nationally recognised and are based on levels of competency agreed by industry
- that training products and services that meet industry and enterprise needs are made available to learners through registered training organisations (RTOs).
The NTF is made up of three major components: nationally endorsed training packages, the AQF and the AQTF as shown in the diagram below.
