Version Modification History and Current Status

Users should always check the Training Package version number before commencing training or assessment processes. The primary release of a Training Package is ‘Version 1’. When changes are made to a Training Package, sometimes the version number is changed and sometimes it is not, depending on the extent of the change. A significant change, eg incorporation of new units of competency through a continuous improvement process, would be called ‘Version 2’.

When a Training Package undergoes a formal review process, it is considered to be a new Training Package for the purposes of version control and is then called Version 1. A new year code is also added, for example CPP07 could become CPP09. It is important not to confuse the version number with the Training Package's national code which remains the same during its period of endorsement.

Under continuous improvement, however, the unit and qualification codes may change to reflect the year that the improvements are endorsed. For example, CPP20207 Certificate II in Security Operations (endorsed in 2007), would become CPP20211 Certificate II in Security Operations if continuous improvement modifications were endorsed in 2011. This would not affect the Training Package code which would remain CPP07. Further information about coding conventions and protocols is provided later in this guide.
