Using CPP07 in the Waste Management Sector

The CPP07 Property Services Training Package is the endorsed benchmark which relates units of competency to national qualifications, and provides guidelines for assessment for the Waste Management Sector. Training Packages are developed by industry to meet current and emerging skills needs. They enable RTOs to develop flexible training programs to meet particular enterprise, regional or individual training needs, while maintaining the core integrity of a national qualification.

Qualifications and units of competency for the Waste Management Sector were first endorsed in December 2000 in Version 2 of the PRM98 Asset Maintenance Training Package.  The PRM04 Asset Maintenance Training Package was endorsed in February 2004 following a review and revision of the original PRM98 Training Package, and covered the following industry areas:

§         Carpet cleaning

§         Cleaning operations

§         Fire protection equipment

§         Fire safety systems inspection

§         Pest management

§         Waste management

.

The PRM04 Training Package has recently been revised and integrated into the CPP07 Training Package.  The above industry areas have been redeveloped as sectors in the CPP07 Training Package in recognition of industry practice and to facilitate greater flexibility and relevance with regard to training and assessment.  The processes of development and review which have been undertaken since 1998 have ensured the qualifications and units of competency for the Waste Management Sector remain relevant and provide effective coverage of the sector's current and emerging skill needs.
