Using CPC08 in the Plumbing and Services Sector

The CPC08 Construction  Training Package is the endorsed benchmark which relates units of competency to national qualifications, and provides guidelines for assessment for the Plumbing and Services Sector. Training Packages are developed by industry to meet current and emerging skills needs. They enable RTOs to develop flexible training programs to meet particular enterprise, regional or individual training needs, while maintaining the core integrity of a national qualification.

The CPC08 Training Package now includes the redeveloped qualifications framework and units of competency for the Plumbing and Services Sector of the construction industry.  The areas of industry that form this sector were represented in the former BCG03 General Construction, and BCF00 Off-site Construction Training Packages covering occupations and functions such as:

§         Building services (eg planning construction work or administering a contract)

§         Brick and blocklaying (eg installing glass blockwork or laying bricks)

§         Carpentry (eg constructing wall frames)

§         Concreting (eg handling concreting materials, or cutting and coring concrete)

§         Demolition (eg carrying out manual general demolition, or operating a crushing plant)

The units of competency and qualifications covering these functions within CPC08 have been redeveloped and amalgamated in recognition of industry practice and to facilitate greater flexibility and relevance with regard to training and assessment.  The processes of development and review which have been undertaken since 1998 have ensured the qualifications and units of competency remain relevant and provide effective coverage of the sector's current and emerging skills needs.
