If you are interested and want to explore further, it is a good idea to talk to someone in a registered training organisation. Finding the right person can be quite a challenge. In the meantime, here are three other really useful sites.
Myfuture is a careers database providing current information on education and training providers and courses, careers and employment, articles and links to resources. This will allow you to find the colleges offering courses in Electronic Security. Search by the Job title you are interested in and follow the prompts – it will tell you which organisation is offering relevant training in your area, and their contact details.
National Training Information Service
This is the full listing of all recognised courses and training organisations authorised to conduct them. Search by: name of a course ... try "Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management". Then tick the box "RTO by Scope" and your State or Territory. This will list all the organisations likely to be offering Electronic Security courses – there is a link to the contact details and the websites of all the providers, so you can check them out before you inquire.
Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL)
ASIAL is the peak national body for the Australian Security Industry and represents about 85% of the security industry in Australia - from large corporate entities to small and medium sized operations.
On this site, search for a Security Provider – under the heading: Industry Services, tick the box labelled Registered Security Training Organisation and search by State and Region. The advantage of this site is the REGIONAL breakdown. You will need to ask whether they offer Electronic Security options.
You can also search for currently advertised jobs on the website or find an employer near you along with a list of services provided by their business.
