Essential Skills for an Integrated Electronic Security Consultant

  • You need to apply a sophisticated understanding of computer technology and integrated business systems in particular. You must be able to utilise, adapt and integrate complex business software to achieve optimal electronic security system operation. In addition, you must be able to use testing and analysing techniques to anticipate and resolve problems.

  • Well developed communication skills are required in the context of relating and presenting to clients, in analysing workplace information, devising and interpreting security risk management plans and confirming work requirements and specifications. You need good negotiating skills and mathematical skills  especially for estimating costs and preparing quotations and tender documentation. Also essential is the ability to resolve conflicts and apply creative thinking techniques to generate solutions.
  • As a team leader, you need to use co-operative approaches to get the best performance from your team. In this role you are responsible for coaching and mentoring team members and encouraging them to generate new ideas and innovative approaches.
  • You must also take responsibility for expanding your own knowledge of computer systems and how they can best be used in electronic security applications. In this context, an ability to actively seek new opportunities to improve your skills and techniques is highly desirable.
